At Whitie’s Pets, we appreciate all dogs and cats. They have been an integral part of human’s lives for thousands of years. We have been delighted by the independent and whimsical nature of our feline friends ever since the ancient Egyptians began their domestication in 2000 B.C.
Dogs on the other hand have been “man’s best friend” for over 15,000 years! We have worked with them hand and paw for generations, depending on them for anything from tracking prey to guarding our homesteads and alerting us of intruders.
Whether you like the independent nature of cats, or enjoy the loyalty and endless variety that dogs provide, we have everything you could possible need to keep your furry friends happy and healthy for years to come.
We work hard in our community to raise awareness of the growing stray cat and dog population. We only adopt out SPCA cats and dogs.
- Spay or Neuter Your Cat and / or Dog!
It is very important to get all dogs and cats spayed or neutered. Overpopulation is a major problem in the Central Valley and every year thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized because we allow them to breed faster than homes can be found for them.
If we do the responsible thing and spay and neuter our cats and dogs, we can reverse our overpopulation problem without euthanasia. With low-cost and free options at The Central Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CCSPCA) facility, and prices as low as $20 for cats, and $40 for dogs for Medi-Cal recipients at the HOPE Animal Foundation, there’s no reason not to do your part.
Another very important part we can all play in halting overpopulation is adopting all of your dogs and cats from a shelter. All shelter animals will already be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and de-wormed, making them the more responsible choice.
Even if somebody “accidentally” has a litter of puppies or kittens, for everyone that they find a home for, there is now an un-vaccinated, un-spayed/neutered animal waiting to start the reproduction process all over again, that is taking the place of what could have been a shelter animal.
Here at Whitie’s PETS we only have dogs and cats from our local SPCA up for adoption. They are all micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and fully vaccinated and de-wormed at time of adoption.
Every dog and cat needs to be regularly vaccinated in order to prevent the spread of diseases.
Protect your pet from prolific and/or deadly viruses. Also be sure to keep up with regular de-worming as internal parasites can rob your pet of his or her energy and vital nutrients.
It is especially important to get your puppy on a vaccination as soon as possible, because until they are fully vaccinated, they risk getting very ill. They can contract parvovirus (parvo) which attacks the intestinal lining of dogs and puppies ultimately causing death.
